1. With effect from 14 April 2014 classic vehicle tax exemption has been moved forward by a year to 1 January 1974. This will mean that vehicles manufactured in 1973 will then be exempt from road tax - only a small concession but a move in the right direction!
2. In the past owners who have declared SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) on their vehicles have had to renew it annually - this has now changed and SORN declarations are open ended; in other words they won't cease until such time that you choose to tax (or scrap) the vehicle.
3. With effect from April 2015 the permitted speed for LGV Vehicles (over 7.5 tonnes) on roads where the National Speed limit applies will be raised from 40mph to 50 mph.
